Services
What we come out for.
Sweeping, wood burner servicing and wood burner installation. Prices are quoted once we know the appliance and the chimney — not listed as a guess.
01
Chimney & flue sweeping
Soot, tar and debris build up faster than most people think. A regular sweep keeps the fire drawing well, cuts the risk of a chimney fire, and is what insurers expect to see.
Included
- Sweep of the flue with the right brushes for the lining
- Visual check of the fire, stove and accessible flue
- Soot and debris removed from the property
- Sweeping certificate issued on the day
Most homes are done in under an hour. Bird nests and heavy tar take longer — we will say so before we start.
02
Wood burner servicing
Sweeping the chimney is only half the job. Rope seals perish, glass clouds, baffles warp and air controls stick. A proper stove service keeps the burner lighting easily, burning cleanly, and safe to use through winter.
Included
- Inspect and replace door rope and glass seals where needed
- Check baffles, grate, firebricks and air controls
- Clean the stove body, glass and flue connection
- Confirm the appliance is drawing and sealing as it should
A stove service is not a chimney sweep. Most customers book both on the same visit — ask when you call.
03
Wood burner installation
From a first look at the opening to lighting the first fire. We survey the chimney and hearth, fit the stove, and leave you with a heater that draws properly — not a box in the room and a list of unfinished jobs.
Included
- Survey of the opening, chimney, hearth and ventilation
- Fit of the stove, flue liner, registers and cowl as required
- Making good around the opening where the job allows
- Commissioning and a plain-English handover on how to run it
Ask us about Building Control or competent-person paperwork for your install. We quote once we have seen the chimney, not from a photo alone.
04
Bird nests & blockages
A blocked flue is dangerous. Smoke can spill back into the room, and a nest can catch light. We remove the blockage, check the draw, and advise if a cowl would help next season.
Included
- Nest and debris removal from pots and flues
- Check that smoke is drawing correctly afterwards
- Advice on cowls and bird guards
- Follow-up sweep if the flue still needs it
Please do not light the fire if you suspect a nest. Call first.
05
CCTV flue inspection
Useful after a chimney fire, when you are buying a house, or if the sweep has found damage. We record what we see and talk you through it in plain English.
Included
- Camera survey of the accessible flue
- Photos or video of any defects
- A plain-English summary of what we found
- Guidance on repair options — we do not push work you do not need
Replace this copy if you do not offer camera surveys yet.
06
Stove, liner & cowl advice
A sweep sees a lot of installations. We can tell you if the pot needs a bird guard, if the liner looks due for replacement, or if the stove is being run too cool.
Included
- On-the-day advice while we are already on site
- Honest view on repairs versus leaving well alone
- If a new stove or liner is needed, we can quote the install
If the job is a new stove or a full liner, that sits under wood burner installation — we will point you there rather than stretch a site visit.
Not sure which of these you need?
Describe the fire or stove and we will tell you. Most visits are a sweep or a stove service; a new wood burner is quoted after we have seen the chimney.
